Be up front and honest that the job you were waiting for and applied to a little while is too good to pass up. If so, then I would explain to the current supervisor that you had been waiting for this job, and they have contacted you and asked for you to join their team. If the supervisor is understanding, then he may agree to you working for him also after you get off from the other job. There is probably not going to be a way you can tell them without them getting upset. It couldn't hurt offering to work weekends for a week or two until they find someone else, but be careful that they don't take advantage of you in this situation. I would recommend being honest and direct, apologize for the inconvenience that this situation has caused, but do not apologize over and over because that would not solve anything. If you offer to work evenings or weekends, let them know it would be for a set time limit (i.e. two weeks since that's how much time you would give notice).
